The Campania region has a gastronomic tradition based on sea and earth products. Typical products which are wisely mixed to recall the ancient flavours of the Sorrentine cuisine and can delight the most exacting palates.
In the Sorrentine Peninsula and on the Amalfi Coast you can savour tasty sea and earth products. Most of them are “D.O.P” products (protected denomination of origin) such as lemons, oil, tomatoes and walnuts.
Among the most renowned dishes of the Sorrentine Peninsula we find the ‘gnocchi alla sorrentina’, a simple recipe with tomatoes, oil, basil and mozzarella cheese. We also find the ‘scialatielli’, a typical egg pasta with seafood.
Among the second courses, the ‘caprese’ is the best: fresh tomatoes dressed with oil, mozzarella and basil. But you can also find delicate barbecued fish and every kind of meat.
You can take your pick from cakes, sweets and desserts. Apart from the traditional Neapolitan sweets such as babà, bignè or sfogliatelle, you can savour typical Sorrentine sweets such as the ‘delizia al limone’ and the ‘caprese’ cake.
Among the typical liquors, ideal at the end of the meal, there are the renowned ‘limoncello’ and the ‘nocino’.
